Christian Education
The Christian Education program at
First Presbyterian Church provides opportunities for seekers of all
ages to explore their Christian faith, deepen their relationship
with God and relate their faith to today's world.
Adults meet for a discussion-based
Bible Study on Sunday mornings from 8:30 to 9:45 am. Short
term series or programs on varied subjects are scheduled during the
church year.
Youth in grades 6 to 12 meet on
Sunday mornings from 8:45 to 9:45 am to discuss how their faith
relates to their lives. Discussions are often based on movies
from popular culture.
Children's Sunday School classes
begin after the Children's Time in worship and run until 11:15am.
Children ages 3 and older are divided into three or four classes,
depending upon enrollment. At various times they meet together
for music, guest speakers or mission work.
Nursery for infants and toddlers
is available during the worship service upstairs off the sanctuary.
It is staffed by volunteer parents and/or youth.
Youth Group gatherings for teens
in grades 6 to 12 are scheduled at various times. Activities
that have been done are miniature golf, bowling, packing care
packages for college students, preparing food at Hope for the
Future, participating in the annual CROP Walk and others. Some
of our activities are held jointly with other youth groups from area
churches.
Please
Pray for our Christian Educators:
God, I thank you for all who have accepted the call to teach.
Please bless and equip them for this ministry.
Help me to embrace the challenge of learning throughout my lifelong
faith journey.
Open me to the guiding presence of your Holy Spirit.
I ask these things, not for my glory or the glory of our church, but
always so that your love and care may be seen and experienced by all
we meet.
In Christ's name I pray. Amen.
